On behalf of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Radin Consulting, Inc. (RCI) is providing Project Management Oversight Consulting (PMOC) services on federally-funded Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) rail projects.
As part of the PMOC services contract, RCI regularly attends progress meetings and participates in issues related to scope, budget and schedule. When necessary, RCI also addresses project specific issues related to DBE participation levels, Buy America requirements, change orders/cost overruns and union-related concerns. RCI is participating on the following rail projects:
- Replacement of five (5) Traction Power Substations (TPSS) — Under this contract, five (5) new traction power substations will be installed along the New Haven Line (NHL). The locations are in Woodmont, Devon, East Bridgeport, West Bridgeport and East Norwalk.
- Construction of Component Change Out Shop in New Haven — This major (300,000 Sq Ft) facility consists of a maintenance shop with 13 car spots on 3 tracks with overhead cranes and floor lifts to allow easy removal of major car components (trucks, HVAC units, pantographs), support shops to repair and maintain the major car components, parts storage facilities, offices and welfare facilities for employees, a training facility, a security suite with command center and MTA police offices, MTA/Metro North Railroad (MNR) offices, CTDOT offices, and a communications hub.
- Replacement of NHL Line Catenary Replacement & Associated Bridges — This project will replace the 25kV AC catenary wire and support infrastructure along a portion of the NHL and installs five new bridges.
- Installation of Danbury Branch CTC & Signalization — This project will install a centralized train control (CTC) communications system that will be managed from MNR’s Grand Central Terminal Control Room and new wayside signaling along the Danbury Branch.
