Preliminary Engineering for Hudson Tunnel-Amtrak Gateway ProgramNew York and New Jersey

Radin Consulting, Inc. (RCI) is part of the design team for the Hudson Tunnel-Amtrak Gateway Program. RCI has various roles on this project including the coordination of the environmental analysis, impacts assessment, mitigation with design; GIS and graphics support; and editing and technical writing.

The proposed project entails the design and construction of a new rail tunnel to serve New York’s Penn Station to supply redundant capacity beneath the Hudson River. The existing century-old passenger rail tunnel under the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey sustained serious damage during Super Storm Sandy. The damage to the tunnels have impacted the reliability of train service to New York City. The project would also renovate the existing tunnels to strengthen capacity and update the current infrastructure.
